Tips For Getting Your Redwings Winter Ready

By Martin on Tue, 16/09/2025 - 14:13

1. Clean Your Boots Thoroughly.

Before treating your boots, remove dirt, salt, and dust:

Use a soft brush to remove surface debris.

Wipe them down with a damp cloth if needed.

A clean surface ensures conditioners and protectors can fully absorb into the leather.

2. Condition The Leather

Winter air is dry, and dry leather cracks. Apply a quality leather conditioner or mink oil to keep the leather nourished and flexible. Focus on areas that bend the most, like the toe and ankle.

3. Waterproof for Snow & Slush

Even if your Red Wings are oil-tanned and naturally water-resistant, they’ll need extra protection in winter.  a waterproofing treatment designed for leather boots. Products like boot oil, leather protector sprays, or wax-based sealants work well.

Reapply every few weeks, especially if you wear them in wet conditions daily
